
Imagine a world without character…picture being at a fair where people keep skipping each other in line and a fight breaks out. People are angry and unkind. Without positive character traits, the world would be a sad place to live.
Think about being kind. It describes many different characteristics in one word.
“If you are kind, that covers many other character traits. Acting kind is showing consideration, displaying tolerance, and demonstrating care and concern for others,” Assistant Principal Rivera said.

By being kind to others you are showing them that character does matter.
“I am kind by helping others, cooperating with people, and including people,” first grade student Leigh said.
Responsibility is another trait that shows good character. It is important because people will trust you and you will feel good about yourself. You can also be recognized by others.

“When someone shows me that they are kind and responsible, I applaud them and celebrate it. In my class, we make a big deal when children do the right things,” first grade teacher Mrs. Gellman said.
Character matters because it makes the world a better place with people who are showing positive traits.
“I think having good character matters because if you have good character it will lead you down a better path in life,” fifth grade student Jake said.
