HHE’S Got Character!: Spotlighting students

BY THE PANTHER POST STAFF

The Panther Post interviewed students who display positive character traits on a daily basis. Check out their interviews below:

Philip and Brandon, Fifth Grade: Caring

Philip: “I am a safety patrol. In the mornings, I help kids get to the lunch room. I feel great helping people because I get to see them smile.”

Brandon: “The children should not walk by themselves because they need help, so I help them to the cafeteria every morning. I am not doing it to get anything, it is just an act of kindness.”

Mrs. I. Forman, teacher: “Philip and Brandon help students off the bus that need extra assistance and walk them to the cafeteria every morning. Their willingness to help has not gone unnoticed and makes them stand out as CARING students.”

Penelope, Kindergarten: Resilient

Penelope: “When my friends are sad I make them happy and tell them jokes to make them laugh. I give my friends hugs to make them happy. When things are scary, I fight it.”

Ms. Morris, teacher: “Penelope has overcome many challenges and is the definition of RESILIENT. She is a happy girl with a bubbly personality! She loves school, her friends, and all of her teachers. She is very outgoing and gets along well with her classmates. Penelope is a leader, often making up games to play at recess with her friends. Penelope is so sweet and caring, and she is always looking out for everyone around her. WE LOVE HER!”

Antonio, Fourth Grade: Citizenship

Antonio: “I love helping people. I volunteer two days a week with another class and help kids by showing them how to do things. I want to be someone that people look up to.”

Mrs. Budd: “Antonio is a teacher’s dream student. He is a great role model in class, a wonderful and dedicated student council representative, and a fourth grade TOT. He gives up his own recess time and volunteers to assist with another class. Antonio displays OUTSTANDING CITIZENSHIP on a daily basis and goes above and beyond to help in any way necessary to make this world a better place!”

Sophie, Fourth Grade: Dedicated

Sophie: “I started with basic swimming and then went to synchronized swimming. It is dancing in the water. I swim four days a week. I have to focus and complete most of my work on the days that I am not swimming.”

Jackie Castillo, mother: “Sophie has had a love for water since she was six months old. She is very PASSIONATE and DEDICATED to her synchronized swimming. Sophie has performed and competed in several competitions. She has won 25 medals between her Figures, Solos, Duet, and Team. Her abilities are underwater dance coordination, flexibility, strength, and control.”

Savannah, Second Grade: Kindness

Savannah: “I like to make presents for my friends when they are sad and try to make them feel better. I like to make my friends smile.”

Mrs. Maxim, teacher: “Savannah is truly an all-around wonderful student and human! She is KIND to everyone. She checks on her friends if they are sad or hurt. She goes out of her way to make others feel happy and included. Savannah has brought snacks in for kids that didn’t have one the day before. She also makes keychains and bracelets to give to her friends. Savannah respects others and exudes KINDNESS.”

Robert, Fifth Grade: Inspirational

Robert: “If my classmates say ‘I can’t do this problem,’ I just say, ‘You can do anything you put your mind to.’ I feel amazing when I do this because it makes others feel happy.”

Mrs. I. Forman, teacher: “Robert is a genuine, thoughtful, and well-rounded student. He goes out of his way to make others feel included. You can hear him verbally praise other students when they get their answers correct. Other students wholeheartedly take in his positive words and are INSPIRED to continue to contribute. On a daily basis, he goes out of his way to make people feel special. He truly is an INSPIRATION.”
