February is Black History Americans have had throughout Month and HHE celebrated this by learning about Black individuals who have impacted our world. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was one of the greatest African American leaders that students learned about. Students also learned about Rosa Parks, Ruby Bridges, and George Washington Carver, as well as many other inspiring people. Classes created posters and learned about the impact Black history. These posters were displayed in the hallways so that all students could learn about history.
“I did a project on Jesse Owens for Black History Month. He was the fastest man in the world and won four Olympic gold medals,” third grade student Walford said. “I learned that you can change anything. It is important to celebrate Black History Month to honor people from the past.”
